Highly recommend the Fiskars 9667 Spade, is a great shovel for all kinds of digging, very sturdy! Just check the handle screw now and then, it may loosen but not the end of the world. Recently bought this one here to keep my lady friend from stealing mine!

This tool works great and is sturdy, however the handle is held on by a single small screw that comes loose constantly. I have replaced the screw with a larger one and that has helped greatly. The big handle is a great idea however the plastic is the weak link here. Mine broke in half at the molding mark on top.

I went on line and contacted Fiskars and was rewarded with a free new handle. I feel the metal portion of the shovel is very stout, but I worry I will be contacting Fiskars again for a new handle. We will see. I will enjoy the tool while it works like a champ for now. I don't baby my tools, but feel it has this weak link. It could be great.

My friend does full time cable bury work and I work weekends. This is hand's down the best shovel you can get. It's odd it's called a garden spade as it's tough enough for heavy duty work. My friend goes through "heavy duty contractor grade" shovels about 1 a month. He's a 15+ year veteran who knows how to dig. I broke 2 normal shovels while training because of bad technique. After I finished training and had better technique and bought me this spade. Cannot be happier. If you do manage to break it you can send it to Fiskars and have it repaired/replaced.

Other commenters who gave the fiskar's spade low marks either don't know how to dig or are trying to use it for the wrong purpose. As to the lady who thought it was heavy? It is lighter than most contractor grade shovels. The foot pegs are non-existent on any other shovel who usually just roll the metal edge down, and the shaft generally doesn't brake unless you are doing some thing very wrong. The shovel is unbreakable when used correctly.
